The Mountain Play, held annually in the Cushing Memorial Amphitheatre near the peak of
Mount Tamalpais, is celebrating 100 years of outdoor theater this month with a production
of The Sound of Music. Read on to learn a bit more about the unique experience that has been

1,200 people came to see the first Mountain
Play, Abraham and Isaac, on May 4, 1913.

was completed in 1940.
